Messages For Mom

I made this card using the Sketch from the Sweetest Thing Sketch Challenge 63. Karen Giron always has beautiful cards and great sketches and occasionally I get the chance to play along. Here is the sketch for this week. I turned it on it's side for this card.

I tried a technique that I have seen a few times but have not had the chance to try it out yet. Emboss resist. I was reminded of it once again at my team meeting and figured now it was time to give it a go. I only embossed the bottom third of the image though (with clear embossing powder) and inked up the top 2 thirds to create a bit of a different look. It takes a lot of sponging to bring out the image afterwards but I like how it turned out. Let me know what you think!

That is over $50 of free stuff! It doesn't get any better then that.

Here are few quick cards that I put together using the most popular picks from the SAB brochure.
This card uses the Welcome Neighbor Paper Stack and Whimsical Words Stamp Set.

This last one uses the most popular pick of all, the Scallop Edge Punch and Happy Moments Stamp Set.

Iron Stampers Part 2

Another project that I was to create for the Iron Stampers Challenge was a scrapbook layout again using paper from the Sweet Pea Stack, Chocolate Chip Epoxy Brads and Glassine bags from the Occasions Mini. This is actually the first scrapbook layout I have ever blogged. (My husband does not like having our pictures out on the Internet. You should see what his Facebook picture is. LOL. But trust me I am an avid scrapbooker.)
Believe it or not, the scallop edge on the left of the photo and underneath the sentiment below are actually glassine bags. I simply punched the edge of a bag which right away gave me two sheets to work with. I love how you can still see through them even after I sponged the edges with Pretty in Pink. It has just the softness touch.

The Epoxy Brads have so many uses. I use them to hold the center of the ribbon to make a bow, they fit into the whole of a button for extra dimension, or just use them like I have below as a plain old brad. However they just don't look like any plain old brad! I have already gone through a few packages of these. Definitely one of my favourite things from the Occasions Mini.

Easter Table Treats

Here is my entry for Pals Paper Arts #35. Anything But A Card! Anytime we have a family dinner for Holidays at my mom's, I always make some sort of table treat for everyone. Here are some ideas that I am playing with for this Easter.

A center piece. You could fill the whole valse up with a variety of these.

Napkin holders.

And last but not least, (my favourite) name place cards. My nieces and nephews just love these little gifts. They are all made with just punches.

My Tulips Are Out!

No, seriously, the tulips in my garden are really out in full bloom. I love seeing the colour in my garden after a very drab winter. No clean sparkling white snow to hide the dirt and dried leaves all winter and so now I am so happy to see something beautiful at work there.

These tulips are so easy to make. All you need is the Extra Large Two-Step Bird punch from the Occasions Mini! Punch two of the wings one way, flip your paper over and punch one more. I sponged the edges a little to create some depth and then just stacked them up.
Be on the look out for some great classes coming up from my creations from IRON STAMPERS. ( I created a collage of projects using 3 different products and I can't wait to share them with you very soon!!!) The grass on this card is a very tiny preview. Come back and check out my blog again soon!

Mojo Monday 131 & Stampin' Royalty 12

Easter is getting closer. I just finished decorating my kitchen and dining room. My robin egg wreath is now hanging on the front door and here is an Easter card for someone special. I used Mojo Monday Sketch 131. I love Easter eggs that sparkle. So this card is also for Stampin' Royalty Challenge #12, Get Glitter Happy!

These eggs are so easy to make and I just love the way they shimmer! If you'd like to give these a try you will need: designer series paper, a versa mark pad, heat & stick powder, dazzling diamonds and a heat gun and an oval punch.
1. first versa mark your paper
2. sprinkle it with heat & stick powder
3. heat it using your heat gun
4. sprinkle with dazzling diamonds
5. heat it again with your heat gun
6. punch out your egg with your oval punch

I also used this technique for the matte behind the sentiment and for all the edges of the card.

March Technique Class

Here is the 3-d project we made at club last night. We used the milk carton die from the Occasions Mini and then made a box that could hold 4 of them. All the paper we used was from the Sweet Pea paper stack.

I love decorating handles this way and it's really easy too! First punch your smaller oval on your cardstock. That gives you the center hole. Then punch your scallop oval around the oval hole already on your cardstock. This also works great if you want outlines of circles. Just remember to always punch the smaller size first. That way you can center your larger punch around it and get it just perfect. Then adhere to an existing hole or just onto your cardstock for an outline.

My animals were inspired by one of my favourite artists, Mary Jo Albright. Check out her card here.

Upsy Daisy

I made this card for Pals Paper Arts Challenge #34.

Gotta love brown and blue. A combo that is sure to work. I had to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig for this one. I'm not one to pull this tool out too often but when I do, it sure does the trick and it is a whole easier to use then I ever imagined.

Thoughts & Prayers

I've loved this set from the moment I laid eyes on it, but I waited till now to acquire it. Why? I'm not sure. I guess I figured I would not get enough use out of it. However, lately I've seen some smashing cards with it and am so glad I finally have possession of it. I used Stampin' Royalty's sketch challenge #11 for the layout.

I wanted to use this image and it would not fit inside a smaller circle so I just made the dimensions of the card a little larger. Plenty of room inside for a lengthy message kind of like the one I'd like to send to a dear friend right now. (Jheri Lyn, I know you will be reading this and I don't have the address to where you are right now, so this card is for you!)

I spent the majority of my time roughing up the edges on this card. I just used the edge of my scissors and ran them up and down the sides. Then I sponged them.

Sweet Treat Critters

I saw this little frog (didn't think to jot down the name of the creator and I'll be if I can find it now!) and thought it was so sweet. As I sat down to make it I was dumbfounded at how quick and easy it was to pull off. So I got a little carried away with myself and tried out a few other animals that are soon to emerge to the outside world. These would make great end of the year gifts for my daughter's friends at school. The spider would have made the neatest Halloween treats, but really I think any little boy would love to get this at any time of the year.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's day is not a day I normally think to celebrate or send a card to anyone, but I love what people are doing to get the clover happening. If you are like me you would rather spend money on a stamp that you can get a little more use out of, so I don't really have a stamp for St. Patrick's Day. However, I've discovered that all you need is a heart punch. Doesn't matter the size.
As you can see here with my card I used the Scalloped Edge Heart of Hearts Embossing Die and my Full Heart punch. This made it so very easy and I love how it turned out. There are so many ways to make the clover leaf now.

This card is for 2 challenges. Pals Paper Arts 33 colour challenge (I don't have Kraft cardstock so I substituted in Sahara Sand)

and Stampin' Royalty's challenge using only greens and a neutral.

More Uses For Your Easter Kits

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #9 gave us a photo inspiration this week.

The circles seemed to jump out at me. They are everywhere in this photo. I have had these in the back of my mind for a while and now was the perfect time to work them out and share them with you being that they are round.

Styrofoam balls, pins, and shish kabob sticks from your local dollar store and of course the Easter Kit from the Occasions Mini will do the trick for these topiaries or flowers. I'm not sure what to call them. And what would something "Eastery" be without a little chocolate. So I filled the valse with m&m's. Although it would be just as cute adding buttons or beads.

Easter is almost here!

Something Spring for PPA32. Easter is just around the corner. I bought my girls dresses this week and spent an hour in the dollar store picking out window clings, bunny ears, basket straw and other such Easter related items. I love Easter. My mom always buys the big, Big , BIG bunny from Purdys and we all get to break him up after our Easter dinner. Everyone fights over the ears. My mother in law still hides an Easter plate for all the adults. My husband thinks he is too old for such stuff so I always get to go hunting for 2! Decorating Easter eggs are also a fun time that I now get to spend with my daughters. I used the Easter kit from the Occasions Mini to decorate this egg. The rub-ons and bling are my favourite. I've used them for other projects as well. The kit has many uses for all sorts of projects.

The Top Note die has got to be my all time favourite die for the big shot. There are so many ways to use it. Here I stuck it to the inside of the box and wrapped it up and over the sides keeping it in place using the filigree brads and crystal brads.

Here is a great way to make paper confetti. Send some cardstock through your paper shredder and then through your crimper. I always like to throw a little dsp in with it to break up the solid colour.

My 100th Post!

I have been a Stampin' Up demonstrator for almost a year now and this will be my 100th post. It has been a great ride thanks to the awesome group that I belong too. You could not ask for a better upline and my sidelines are just the best people I know. I should have made this a "Thank you" card as a shout out to all the people that have helped me along the way, but my brain seems to be going only in the direction of Spring and Easter nowadays. So I'll just say THANKS to everyone. You've been great inspiration!

So on to my card. I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 128. And as you can see I had a lot of fun playing with ribbon. I love ribbon. I actually used 4 different ribbons for this card and I love the effect of it.I used the stamp set Eggcoutrements from the Occasions Mini and the paper is a Sale-A-Bration free-bee. In honour of this being my 100th post, leave me a comment and I will enter you in the draw for a Sale-A-Bration pick of your choice. No purchase required. Just let me know how I'm doing and leave me an email or number where you can be reached and I will draw a name on Monday. I will contact you and you can let me know what you'd like for free! Check out the Sale-A-Bration brochure on the top left sidebar to see all the great products you can choose from. See the last page of the brochure for extra picks in the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalogue. I look forward to hearing from you!
