One Last Post

Happy new year everyone. I thought I should get in one last post before the new year. I missed showing you this milk carton that I made for all my neighbors. I've seen this milk carton on so many blogs and have wanted to make one since last year. Here is where I saw it first. I filled mine with my famous poppy cock.

Now the funny thing is that after I had made these, the Occassions Mini came out for us demos to preview and what do they have? A die cut for your big shot that is a mini milk carton. Sooooo cute. I think I will try out the milk carton holder next. This makes it super easy and just think what sweet little valentines gifts these will make.

I've Survived!

Well our house has looked like a bomb went off for days and days. We have not been home for forever it feels. Too busy. We finally had time to put together a few Christmas presents this morning. And I finally had a few moments to my myself to go and unpack my latest delivery which has been sitting on my desk for over 2 weeks. I have been itching to play and share with you the cool stuff that is coming out in January. So if you have not heard...Stampin' Up is going unmounted! I love these. And they come in great dvd style cases for super easy storage.

Plus tons of new accessories to play with.

Check out the new slim style punch. How great is that. Another easy storage solution.
I borrowed the design of this box from a co-demonstrator, Monica Chan. She showed it to us before Christmas and had it all decked out for a beautiful Christmas gift. I've decorated mine for a birthday or thank you gift.

If you have not got your copy of the new Occassions Mini or Sale-A-Bration Catalogues, contact me and I'll get them in your hands asap! You'll want to see these!

A Christmas Card That is Not Red!

So funny. I tried to get away from making a Christmas card with traditional Christmas colors. What do I do? I go and make a card that is purple and yes, green! That worked out well now didn't it. Anyways, I love this card. Tons of layers and I have to say the Petals A Plenty folder came out nice after I sponged Rich Razzleberry on it.

Cards For Kids

My mom is always putting in orders for a specific card she needs. This time it was for Christmas cards for her Sunday school class. This year she has both girls and boys so I had to make sure my cards were gender friendly. And these cards are soooo kid friendly. My daughter thought these were pretty cool. However, I can't take the credit for designing these. This is where you can find these (http://gretchenbarron.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/10/introducing-santa-and-his-sidekicks----a-brand-new-class-kit-on-the-go-and-tutorial.html). Although, the funny thing is I found them somewhere else. Anyways, thanks Sabrina for letting me know where they came from.

Technique For Sunday

Tryptch Trio is the name of this set in the catalogue. From the first time I saw this set it figured it needed some sort of special technique to make it stand out. The technique I've used here is called the Faux Stain Glass Technique. Sounds harder than it is to actually do.
Here are the steps...

1. Versa Mark image on vellum

2. Sprinkle on black embossing powder (you could use silver or gold too)

3. Heat using a heat gun

4. Flip your vellum over and using Stampin' Up markers color in your image

5. Turn it over and cut out your image

6. Mount it to whatever background color you like. In this case I wanted the wrapped baby Jesus to remain white so that is the color I chose.

Baby's First Christmas

Things have gotten a little crazy busy around here. We have been tripping over my Christmas tree decorations for almost 2 weeks. Well I finally got my tree up and took a hour to shop by myself (that never happens anymore) for my little one's first ornament. One last baby's first Christmas. I love these little crystal baby booties, however, they had the ugliest green ribbon on them. What a hideous color. So me being me figured I could look beyond the green, knowing I had something better at home, and bought them. Don't they look pretty in pretty in pink ribbon. The little silver tag says "A baby-A gift from heaven, a joy on earth." How true.

True Meaning of Christmas

I saw this video on a blog that I follow and thought I'd share it with you. Just a small reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

Super Easy Elegance!

I saw this simple card here on Julie Buhler's blog. I decided to make something similar. Actually I made two! I tend to do that. The second card is always a little different. These are simple and easy yet elegant. They only took a few minutes to make. I used one of my favourite colors, Certainly Celery and the stamp set Patterned Pines from the Holiday Mini.

Just One More

I had to show you just one more. This box uses the snowflake die. I shifted the red paper just a smidge before sending it through the big shot so it would show through the shite snowflake. I love the effect of seeing a bit of red behind the white. The window sheet gives you a sneak peak of what is inside.

I can't decide which gift box is my favourite. Hope you enjoyed these little trinkets. Let me know what you think.

Treat Box #2

Like I said, window sheets make lovely little things. This time I used the set Wandering Words from the Holiday Mini and I changed the box score lines to 1,5, 6, 10. I used white staz-on for the stamp on the window sheet. I am loving making these gift boxes.

Treat Box!

I had a little time this morning. I have to be home and wait for my new mattress to be delivered! (Happy early Christmas to me and my husband.) Anyways, one kid is sleeping and the other is busy playing. Yeah! I got to play too.

I just love window sheets. They make such beautiful things. Besides I needed to get started on a few teacher's gifts. Gift boxes are always fun to make. I just used the typical 2, 4, 6, 8 box. Wouldn't you like to get one of these?

Season of Simple Grace

Things have slowed down a little and I had some time to design a simple card for my mom's Christmas cards. She bought this set with her Christmas cards in mind and has been waiting for me to come up with something simple for her. This set is called Season of Simple Grace. There is no special technique used here but I just love the layout of this card with the nativity scene spread out. I also decided to design a little gift box for her in case she decided to give someone one of the beautiful bracelets she makes. I just love the softness of this ribbon and how wide it is. It is so effortless to make a gorgeous bow using it.

Technique Club

I'm back. I've been lost in my room getting ready for a Christmas open house that I participated in. Now that that is done I was able to clean up a little and find my camera. Plus I got to play a little and get ready for Sunday's technique club. Here is what we are making.

The first is using the sweet treat cups. With this card I used the shimmer paints on the soft suede. I absolutely love the shimmer paints. If you don't have them yet, you have to get them. They are in the Holiday Mini Catalogue. One super cool way to use them is to take a small spray bottle and fill it with rubbing alcohol. Then add a little shimmer paint, shake to mix and spray your project. I spray some part of almost every card I make nowadays.

The next card is a double layer pocket card. One pocket for a little note and one pocket for a gift card. I saw this card on one of my favourite demonstrator's blog. Inking Idaho.

Last but not least. My all time favourite set from the Holiday Mini is Delightful Decorations plus the ornament punch to match. The possibilities are endless with this duo.

Happy Halloween From The 5 of Us.

Halloween Treats

Today was one of those days where I left something to the last minute. I had plans to make little Halloween treats for my daughter's classmates probably almost 2 months ago. However I have been a wee bit distracted by other things going on lately. So today I sat down to create something quick and easy. In fact I made it easy enough for my daughter (age 6) to make. I used the set Sweet Centers from the Holiday Mini. Together we had these puppies made in 35 minutes. I punched out the center of the big stamp at the bottom using my 1 1/4 circle punch, added a few layers including the scallop circle punch and voila. Pretty easy. This stamp set makes super cute projects.

I've Been a Bit Busy!

I had so much fun at club 2 weeks ago making this pretty little storage box. The color combinations the ladies came up with were just stunning. I just had to make more. Each designer series paper set has a ton of possibilities. It doesn't matter which papers you choose, they are going to match and make a striking combination. You can use the boxes to store jewellry, buttons or brads, paper clips or pins (for a teacher), or any thing small. My daughter wants one to store her Barbie shoes and purses and another to store her Polly Pocket shoes and purses. Lots of fun!!!

Halloween and Thanksgiving

Just thought I'd share a few cards that I've been working on.

I wanted to have a few samples to share with my Sea to Sky Stampers group. We met on Monday and had a great time.

We learned a little about the new Digital Studio. Wow! The things you can do with that.

I think I could become addicted to playing around with that in a heartbeat. Let me know if you want to know more about it.

Club Cards

I've finally decided which cards we are going to make in club on Sunday. Here they are. A shaker card (as requested), a pumpkin treat box, and a turkey napkin holder. Sorry about the color of the napkin. I only had pink or navy in the cupboard. I used the set Pumpkin Patch from the Holiday Mini for the shaker card. So as usual if you want the set, on Sunday it is %10 off. Drop ins are welcome but the fee is $10. See you on Sunday.

Warm Thoughts

Wow it sure feels like autumn to me. I was really cold today. Taking my girls in and out of the van in the rain was no fun. At home my feet were freezing and my nose felt like it was running from the cold. Well what better way to warm up then shut myself into my craft room and think warm thoughts. Well actually think warm colors. Chocolate chip, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Ruby Red, and Soft Suede to name a few. I spent a few hours working on a few projects with these colors. Here is one I thought I'd share with you. (I'll share more when I decide which ones I want to do for club.) Gotta love that new Autumn Traditions DSP. Such lovely color combinations.

Pony Party

I knew from the moment I laid on eyes on this set I wanted to buy it for my daughter. The funny thing is the moment she spotted it in the catalogue she begged me to buy it for her. I figured I would wait for her birthday. Well that time is here and let me tell you this set is so incredibly cute. If you have a little girl in your life, this would make a terrific gift. In honour of my daughter's birthday, I am offering free shipping for an size order that contains this set. That's right. For the week of September 6-13, if you want Pony Party, I will pay for your shipping. That is a 10% savings. See page 86 of the 2009- 2010 catalogue on the left to view the full set. I had so much fun with it. I made all the decorations using it. Including a banner with pennants, medallions to hang from the chandelier and the cutest of all her birthday card. This has to be one of the cutest cards I have made. I just love it. The colorful hair, the 3-d sparkling wings and of course you create your pony the way you want it. It has tons of options. Contact me to put in your order. hands76@hotmail.com
