Tonight was club night and as I was prepping for it I remembered how much I just love to craft. I sure don't get enough time in my room anymore. Life has gotten too hectic but I am going to take a few minutes to show you one of the cards we made and then how I revised it.

I made this first card to show two things. The first was a great way to use up all those tiny strips of scrap dsp. I cut 3 1/2" strips that were 1/4" thick. Then I bent them in half and glued the ends together. When I had 12 of these I adhered them to a circle and then added my layers on top.
The second thing I wanted to show my group of ladies was that you can colour the silver glitter paper any colour you want. Using your sponge daubers, add whatever colour you choose to your glitter paper. In this case I made Melon Mambo glitter paper. LOVE IT!

So anyways one of my ladies was loving this card and asked if it would work for a wedding card. I said sure if it was a Winter wedding but it got my wheels turning! So I pulled out a few different supplies and here is what I came up with on a whim.

Now I really like this card. No glitter paper but alot o' layers. LOVE IT even more!!!

So glad you came by for a visit. Thanks for stopping by!

Gate Cards

I needed an engagement card for my nephew and his fiance, The wedding is in October and her colours are Fall colours. I love this retired dsp and it had all the perfect shades. I actually used this paper for a card for all the parents to sign for one of my daughter's preschool teachers in June. It looked so great that I decided to use the same layout as well. Here is the engagaement card first.

The Apothecary Accents Framelits were perfect in helping to make these into gate cards. The stamps used in both cards are from the set Layered Labels. I jazzed them up a little by colouring them in a bit.
I added another page to allow for all the well wishes and signatures to the teacher's cards. Basic pearls were the perfect finishing touch for these cards.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin' Celebration #57

Ah, how good it is to craft once again :) My craft room is collecting quite the layer of dust. Finally I got my butt in gear and got some cards done this last week. I have a whole box of new goodies just waiting to be used. This week's inspiration photos from Stampin' Celebration were just the occasion to pull out a few must haves I acquired from the 2013 SU! cattie.

For starters the stamp set Fabulous You. Love that shoe!!!! And doesn't it look sharp embossed in white. Plus the Apothecary Accents Framelits and matching Paper Piercing Pack. What fun!

Sure was easy to play along this month. Hope you do too! Be sure to check out all the Stampin' Celebration designer's blogs for tons of great inspiration.

Paper Players #100

Wow, has Paper Players really been around that long??? 100 challenges. That`s awesome! I guess I am just not getting around enough anymore. Lately my time has been spent on one daughter's school yearbook and on another daughter's preschool gift from all the parents all while trying to recover from eye surgery. It's been a few weeks but I can stand to look at the computer screen again so I thought I would share.

I thought this was a neat idea to find an old challenge to play along with and got even more excited when I found this challenge. Tic Tac Toe - challenge #93. What fun. I was ready to make a card for every line! No really, I had a hard time deciding which line to choose and was ready to make a series of cards had my eyes been able to handle it.
I chose to go with blues, ribbon and butterflies, however, I incorporated a few more ideas from the tic, tac, toe including, flowers, Spring, designer paper and dry emboss.

I`d love to give lots of details but my eyes don`t quite allow it yet. The words are already going blurry. Glad I got a chance to play along though. Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin' Celebration #55

Well if it isn't one thing, it's another. However this one came a bit unexpected. I had eye surgery a few weeks ago but wasn't completely aware of all the side effects that would occur after the surgery until I was sitting in the office reading some final paper work before the surgery. lol! I knew I would be overly sensitive to light but it has been a bit ridiculous. Now this other side effect is a side effect that only happens to people 35 and older. Well I figured I am just 35 so it probably won't effect me. Yeah right. Not only could I now not see far away but my vision up close was messed up too. So let's just say lately I have spent more time with my eyes closed during the day then open. On a good note, I can say that I see a slight improvement every day. That said I have finally been able to get some crafting done and I can stand to look at a computer again for a short period of time.
I just loved the Stampin' Celebration's challenge for this month. I love black, white and pink. I am super late getting this out but I just had to play along.
I was having a hard time finding something I could replicate the zebra stripes with when I remembered a card I made a few years ago. It was a real favourite of mine and the background reminded me of these inspiration photos. It is the rose stamp from Fifth Avenue Floral.
I sure hope you get a chance to play along. Here is the list of blogs from the Design Team. Make sure you check out their great samples!

Been Too Long

Oh it has been far too long since I last posted once again. Trying to lose weight and putting my family first takes a lot of time. But the rewards are good :) It's just that I sure miss paper crafting and chatting with my blogger friends. Every once in awhile I try to take a little break and today was that day. I have a few birthdays of friends coming up and thought I'd take the chance to play along with some old favourites. I've entered this card in Stampin' 411 #256 (sketch), Stampin' Royalty #125 (colour challenge) and SUO #45 (3-D flowers).
I made 2 cards. One vertical and one horizontal. Yes, I am kind of stuck on the whole aluminum flashing thing but it's just so fun to use. I used the Top Note Die and then embossed it with the Elegant Bouquet EF. Then I stamped some Blushing Bride c/s using the Elements Of Style set and then punched out some flowers with the Boho Blossoms Punch. Next I stuck them to the flashing using glue dots and added Basic Pearls to the center. The really cool part here is that I took my pink sharpie felt and coloured the pearls! It's tough to see but they are so pretty. I think they make the card.
The butterfly is the Beautiful Butterflies Die and also the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. I embossed the large butterfly with the Perfect Polka Dots EF. Last but not least my sentiment from Vintage Labels is punched out on a Small Oval and then mounted on a modified version of the Decorative Label Punch. Love that little shape too!
Now that I have had my little break it's back to the grind. The kids will wake pretty soon and I gotta get some stuff done first. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day!

Stampin' Celebration #54

Thanks to those of you that played along last week. We have another set of inspiring photos for you this month at Stampin' Celebration. It's a rainbow of colours. Literally and that's what I went with.
First I started with the new little purse diecut that I had not had a chance to play with yet from the Summer Smooshes Collection. I decided to make a mini set of cards that fit inside the purse as a litte gift set. The colours all come from the Brights Collection. The sentiments are from Petit Pairs and the flowers are the soon to be retired Boho Blossoms Punch. Aren't these sweet?!

For a second project I made another set of cards in every colour of the rainbow. I am always running short on cards for kids' birthdays and here was the perfect opportunity to make enough to last a little while. The stamp set is Mouthwatering and the sentiment is from the hostess set Happiest Birthday Wishes. The best part is the the cards smell fantastic. I just love that scented Embossing powder. I used the Melon scent on all of them.
Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's fun creations.
